​Echocardiographers

Beatriz Vasquez is a Cardiac Physiologist with a BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology and is an accredited member of the British Society of Echocardiography. Beatriz trained in echocardiography at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital then moved to Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge. Currently she is working at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust where she continues to develop her career experience. Beatriz is very passionate about echo training and education, having most recently volunteered for four weeks in Arusha, Tanzania at the Mount Meru hospital. There she helped develop an echocardiography service and ran clinics daily. Beatriz is always exploring opportunities to further help develop echocardiography in deprived areas of the world.

Bruno Matos is a Cardiac Physiologist with a degree in Cardiopulmonary physiology obtained from the University of Lisbon, Portugal. He is an accredited member of the British Society of Echocardiography and the European Association of CardioVascular Imaging. Bruno started his professional career in Hospital Da Cruz Vermelha, Lisbon and during his time there was able to participate in a cooperative project between Hospital da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa and Clínica Girassol in Luanda (Angola); visiting regularly to train local healthcare professionals in echocardiography. In 2014 Bruno moved to the United Kingdom and started working at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust where he has remained. In addition to standard NHS echocardiography Bruno is part of the research echocardiography service and provides support to the many research groups working with the Trust; ensuring the highest quality echocardiograms for academic and commercial trials. He also contributes to quality assurance and audit within the department of echocardiography.

Emma Morgan is a Cardiac Physiologist with a BSc (Hons) in Sport & Exercise Science and a BSc (Hons) in Clinical Cardiac Physiology and is an accredited member of the British Society of Echocardiography. Emma trained in echocardiography at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and has spent her career specialising in stress echocardiography and service improvement. She has undertaken a number of leadership roles and been part of a team that has successfully developed various departmental programmes; ensuring that echocardiography is provided in line with best practice for the Trust.

Tiago Marta is a Cardiac Physiologist with a degree in Cardiopulmonary Physiology from ESTeSL (Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa) and is an accredited member of the British Society of Echocardiography. Tiago started his career at Alexandra Hospital in Redditch then moved to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital to train and specialise in Echocardiography; here he obtained his BSE accreditation. To further develop his skills Tiago moved to Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge and is now working at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS trust. Tiago has particular interest in valve disease and cardiomyopathies.
